We absolutely care about your wellbeing and health. As such, it's really important to make sure you're aware of the risks involved in doing personal reflective and discovery work.
We all have potential to better enable and contribute to the success, wellbeing and positive impact of ourselves, organisations and the wider community and planet in our different roles.
To identify the opportunities, we need to do reflective and discovery-based work, both light and deep. Such work has benefits and risks.
This kind of work can bring to our awareness many things we didn't know or understand about ourselves and our worlds (people, organisations, communities, countries and the planet). Plus, of course, it reminds us of the things we do know and understand.
It can also surface hidden or forgotten emotions, memories or experiences, or highlight current problems that need addressing, which can trigger emotional and mental health issues. As a result, it is very important to have support in place (like a doctor or GP, and any health support through employment). If you haven't already, speak to your doctor, loved ones and employer to see what support is available to you.
If you are suffering or have suffered from mental ill-health, we recommend that you speak to your health professional(s) and get their view on whether you should do the sort of work that Maximy offers at this time. But of course, it is you who will have to make and own the decision.
If you are feeling stressed to the point where it is interfering with your ability to function, it is vital that you go to your doctor for a referral to a specialist provider (counsellor or psychiatrist, etc.).
If you feel good and are happy to do this work at this time, we still ask that you establish your support team from the beginning.
We encourage you to approach this work with an open and curious mind, self-compassion, kindness and humility, and with a work-in-progress mindset. We are only human, we can only do our best, no one is perfect and we all have potential to evolve, grow, change and develop. We and the world around us are all works in progress.
The majority of people have potential for more success, wellbeing and/or positive impact. It is through reflection and discovery (by ourselves and with others) that we identify this potential.
We all have choices about the degree to which we want to be the best we possibly can be in each of our roles. When we stop learning and developing, we stop being the best we possibly can be.
Reflection and development, like most things in life, involve risks that take bravery and courage to face. However, when you do, benefits can be gleaned.
As with any risks, you need to assess whether it's the right time for you to do this work. At Maximy, we are here to support you in pursuit of a brighter, more fulfilling life and career.
